Historic Attleboro Falls Gasholder Building I took this capture on a beautiful day of a very interesting historic building. Info: Attleboro Falls Gasholder Building is a historic building at 380 Elm Street in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. The building was constructed in 1874 and added to the National Historic Register in 1996. Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, 1874. In the second half of the 19th century Attleboro Falls was a busy industrial neighborhood with the H.N. Daggett Braid factory at its center. The gasworks was built by and for the factory cl848 and was located across the street . The existing house held the third holder for the town and is located about a quarter mile from the site of the retort house. The Attleboro Falls house is the least altered of the Mas- sachusetts gasholder buildings . The water tank is still open under the building, although the holder itself was removed in the 1950s. The interior remains open with only a small alteration to one window opening. This building has beautiful stonework and a well-proportioned main entry. The prominent location at the intersection of Elm and Mount Hope streets, and the tall maple trees that have grown up around the building, make this site the most beautiful of all those visited. Although it is vacant now, the owners are planning a commercial rehabilitation. The gasholder house is a rare kind of building constructed by gaslight companies and early mill owners to contain holding tanks for coal gas. Once commonplace in New Eng- land's cities (and presently used as the Society/or Indus- trial Archeology's logo), these houses are now a vanishing species. Circus Elephant Card/Photo Holder This delightful little gray elephant sitting on a red and yellow starred round platform, with his gold bead studded head dress is ready to perform for you. He stands about 3" tall including the wire note holder and is made of polymer clay except for his seed bead eyes. The platform is made of a round piece of wood covered in polymer clay. Entire item is covered in satin glaze.
